Most of the categories that Wilber mentions treat consciousness as a reasonably isolated phenomenon, sequestered between the ears of a human being influenced nevertheless by the environment and personal development. In the Eastern and Western contemplative traditions, as he notes, consciousness is a relatively narrow manifestation of a larger or deeper state of awareness. The category he refers to as quantum consciousness suggests that consciousness does indeed extend beyond the body/mind and is capable of interacting with the physical world. It is this section that currently interests me most, and one that is critical to further investigate.
by: By JEANNE ACHTERBERGAs I see it the reason why thought affects the physical world is that it is a form of pressure. Existence is continuous change and the means for change is ever some form of applied pressre (thus the Big Bang theory). On the conscious plane the form is called attention. by: Helen@kaszeta.orgQuantum reality is a reality of simultaniety and potentiality. It is a reality that consists of the overwhelming surge of energy and information bourne out of the singularity we know as the universe.
Our brains filter this phenomenal burst of information and compartmentalize it into survival issues and other, less immediate issues. The brain creates the model of time and space in order to maintain survival of the organism experiencing the universe. Survival is a driving force of life, for whatever reason.
My gratitude to all those people investigating the origins of the relative universe and traversing the uncharted waters of the quantum universe.
We only have to look back to around 1915 and later at the Cubist artists Georges Braques and Pablo Piccaso and the unconscious Cubist efforts of Paul Cezzan as well as the poetry of Gertrude Stein to find some of the first pioneers of the Quantum frontier. Cubism was inspired by innovations in telecommunications and how it revealed the fact that everything was happening at the same time, in the same place... regardless of the perceived compartmentalization of location and time. When you view a Cubist work of art, you are viewing its subject matter from every conceivable aspect the artist can fit into the peice.
Thank you again.

Hawking himself said that to truely understand the book, youd need to be ready for a PhD in Physics, but he still says that many people told him that they enjoyed it. I doubt if I could do any PhD, physics or otherwise, but I still like reading about physics. I dont think its necessary to understand things to enjoy them. In fact a bit of mystery adds to the thrill! by: benthejrporter@hotmail.com
The Mind would seems more palpable to me (although it is not) like a huge bag (sort of, since we will never get to the bottom of it) where we all can tap into.
Now Consciousness is what my brain does not seem to compute… yet “it” knows... Weird?
We so often say: “I make up my Mind” but we never say: “I make up my Consciousness”.. (??)
Would you place Consciousness above Mind? by: patriciagod3000@yahoo.comFor a very enthusiastic elaboration of this view, listen to Edgar Mitchells Quantum Holography CD produced by IONS by: staffIs quantum physics extremely hard to understand if one has never been that interested in science? by: surfa720@yahoo.comScience & Philosophy. At the end of 10-th, beginning of the 20-th years Sommerfeld
wrote to the Einstein :I can help to development only
engineering of quanta.
You should construct their philosophy .
However, the Einstein did not manage it to construct.
I have constructed philosophy of Quantum of light,
philosophy of Physics XXIc and on pages of my site I tell about it.
Science & Philosophy. Religion & Physics. XXI c. Socratus.
Many of physics consider, that: the Physics is first of all Vacuum.
P. Dirac wrote:
Тhe problem of the exact description of vacuum, in my opinion,
is the basic problem worth now before physics.
Really, if you can’t correctly describe vacuum,
how it is possible expect for the correct description something more complex? .
It is completely correct.
Physics in Vacuum have groped true and condition
of infinite / eternal Vacuum characterized
with one simple physical parameter T=0K = -273,160C.
The philosophy of science begins from T=0K .
The physics begins from T=0K.
The religion begins from T=0K .
The origin of Existence begins from T=0K .

One thing I have learned in a long life:
that all our science, measured against reality, is primitive and childlike -
- and yet it is the most precious thing we have.
/ Einstein /
The God could begin to create the Universe only in an absolute
reference system and only under physical and mathematical laws.
Now it is considered, that an absolute reference system is
the cosmic microwave background radiation Т = 2,7К.
But this relic radiation is extending and decreasing.
Therefore in the future it will come to Т = 0К.
From Т=0К the physics begins.
From Т=0К the religion begins.
From Т=0К the philosophy begins.
From Т=0К the psychology begins.
From Т=0К the Genesis begins.
From Т=0К the formation of stars begins.
From Т=0К the God creates all.
How can the God make it?

The quantum physics approves, that in the beginning God has created
virtual particles .
Astrophysics approve, that in the beginning the God has created latent mass ,
invisible particles .
From them the God has created everything.
But nobody knows, what is virtual particles ,
what is latent mass , invisible particles .
It is very strange situation.
About it and about the creation of Existence is telling in the book and on a site:

Thanks.
Best wishes.

Posting out-of-context quotations from authors under their names is a really pathetic activity. This is simply personation in order to get search engine traffic and these posts should be removed. by: dude, where is the mathematical model? i would be interested in an actual model proposed. by: L Lee |

The problem is that there can be no examination of consciousness without consciousness itself. There can be no objects of perception, either gross or subtle, without perception. Who sees the seer? Questions like What is consciousness? try to turn consciousness into an object, which it can never be. by: ombrother@yahoo.comThere have been many modifications to the Big Bang Theory since it was first suggested. It has been more-or-less accepted totally as our view of the universe since Stephen Hawking published his paper based on the idea that if the unverse could be annihilated by black holes then it could also be created by a reverse process. It was proved that the ( or a) Big Bang had happened by the Wilson-Pensias experiment which detected the aftershock of the Big Bang.
But things are different today. The Universe is expanding, in line with the conventional thoery, but it has been found that its rate of expansion is INCREASING. It should be DEcreasing as the pull of gravity slows the speed of the explosion. This means that there must be another force at work. Could it be Einsteins Cosmic constant; an idea that Albert Einstein rejected early in his career? Perhaps so. Joao Mygueshu (spelling?) of Cambridge University has suggested breaking one of the golden rules of physics, that the speed of light is fixed. He has combined a variable speed of light with the Cosmological Constant and suggested that this Big Bang is just one of many that have occurred in the past and one of many that will occur in the future. This means a universe without a beginning or end. Its a bit like the old Steady State Theory, but a lot more violent and jerky! by: benthejrporter@hotmail.comIn the film Being John Malkovich the actor goes down his own portal and that is how I feel whenever I try to get to grips with the Ultimate Seer! Even in meditation, there is some awareness observing (for me anyway). At what point do you say There is no awareness and EVERYTHING present in the universe is an object, in a state of being observed and not observing? As for a scientific experiment? I dont think thats possible. In what laboratory could you put Infinity and Eternity? What experiment could you design to use on it? I know you say that meditation can be a form of scientific experiment, but I doubt if most scientists would see it that way! Maybe if I get better at meditation Ill resolve this issue for myself, I know from reading his books that Ken Wilber has. (I love A Brief History of Everything; and Grace and Grit was wonderful, Ken!) by: benthejrporter@hotmail.comNot that it matters in the big scheme of things.. but what I dont quite get about the big bang theory, if there was absolutely nothing there in the beginning.. then who/what lighted up the match? by: patriciagod3000@yahoo.comI agree with ombrother; consciousness trying to study consciousness is like trying to conduct a scientific experiment without a control group. However I feel that we do make progress in trying. I feel that a solution to this quandary is to step back from the mind and ego, via meditative practices/experiences, and listen to the insight and inspiration that comes from this. Its like climbing onto a hill to broaden your perspective. You see above many clouds of subjectivity. by: fromthedepthsofmybeing@yahoo.com |
