Several years ago I had an experience while meditating. This experience seems to me to be explained by many of the things I am seeing now with string theory and quantum physics.

In posting this experience I am hoping that others who may have had a similar experience would like to engage in a discussion.

I have heard many people say they can consciously travel out of their body and although I have done so, the moment I become aware that is what I am doing I get so excited that I snap right back into it. I have however traveled further than around the corner in deep meditations (often thinking I've been led there by someone or something), this meditation is one of those.

It was as if I was a point of perception in a sea of energy (please excuse me because words will never be able to describe this experience accurately). It was like I was part of the air (if there is air there). It was completely black (the void?), however it was not empty. I was aware that although there was nothing visible it was budding with energy (potential?). I also have to say it felt quite natural, more so than my every day waking life.

I began to see pictures flashing before me, almost as if it was a tv screen in the middle of nowhere (holograms?).

With each picture came this complete knowing (I have not retained all this knowing, just the memory of it being so).

I did retain the experience of one of these pictures. It was a flower. Within an instant I knew every fiber of that flower as if I were it, the dirt it was in, the seed it grew from, the hand that planted the seed and everyone and everything that hand ever touched that hand (it was man, I am a woman). In an instant.

After those pictures finished flashing, to the left I saw what looked like a map or grid. I am not sure what it was but it had lines all over it and what I understood from this was that everything was connected even if I didn't understand it, it had meaning.

I recall the desire to look behind me (as if i had a body) and instantly I was there as if my thought was all I needed to have that experience. (don't remember what i wanted to see, but the fact that it was so instantaneous is probably what is important here).

Then the truly amazing part.

In the distance was a burst, a beautiful golden burst of light and then a second burst of light, and those two bursts seemed to continue to flower outward. All of a sudden all around me were stars/matter, and a breathtakingly beautiful amber hue. I remember looking at a star and knowing I was that star. What I understood from this is that we are in a cycle of sorts, not the first and not the last but one of many.

I have often wondered if what I saw was the "big bang" the "singularity". I don't know. I do know it was amazingly beautiful and now the more I see of what science is finding the more it seems to make sense to me.
